Idea
At any point in our lives, we always have a potential to level up.
No matter how much success we’ve had, no matter how disruptive the marketplace is, we always have a chance to break through glass ceilings that have traditionally held us back, like our mindset.
Instead of blaming other people, realize that other people are, in fact, the possibility.
Example
I’d like to introduce you to a concept called co-elevation, or going higher together. Your ability to breakthrough and get to the next level is only going to be possible if you don’t do it alone, but do it in community with a small set of individuals and then a growing set of individuals committed to a mission and committed to each other.
We’ve got to be able to do this and get to the next level with the ideation, the innovation, the breakthrough thinking, the butt-kicking accountability, the ability to speak the truth to each other. This is all so powerful in a co-elevating relationship.
Action
Identify one individual in your organization with whom you believe you can share your vision for what’s possible to improve a process or to move some initiative forward. Enlist them as your partner to co-elevate in service of that mission.
And similarly, invite them to share with you what they’re trying to achieve so that you can equally commit to them. That’s true co-elevation.
Then, as a team, think about: who’s next? Now, when I say team, I don’t care about organization design or structure. I want you to think boldly and broadly. And I want you to envision.
Make one individual, co-elevating partnership, for now. Invite others to join you along the way so that you can be the transformational agent inside of your company and level up in your career, level up in your organization, and level up in the world.
